The artists, Maya Kedar & Shiri Friedmann, founded the label

FRIEKMANNDAR  in 2008.

The origin of the name comes from the combination of their last names – Friedmann –Kedar.

Maya Kedar – graduated from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.

Shiri Friedmann – stained glass artist and art graduate from Tel-Aviv University.

Together we share raw materials, techniques, life philosophies & experience,

creating in our studio – "FRIEKMANNDAR".

 

The esthetic concept that leads our creating process is the fusing between spiritual and material. This process happens by taking the raw material out of its original context and giving it a new purpose.

 

Porcelain pieces, broken valued tableware, we transform into new beautiful light forms and décor pieces. Giving the material new purpose.

Recycled glass, originally, glass bottles thrown into the sea and ejected back to shore after having been soaked in seawater and endlessly touched by sand grains. We collect on the Israeli beaches and on beaches all over the world. These pieces of glass transform, after more processing, under our hands into new light forms which amplify the ambiance in the space they stand in.

The solder used as a connecting element in the traditional technique.

We treat it as a decorative motif in itself and as part of the final art work.

 

Our art reflects the desire for the personal touch of meticulous handmade.

Together we work on every item, from the early drawing of an idea up to

 the final product. Each piece of our art work is a unique creation bearing our personal FRIEKMANNDAR  signature, no two pieces are ever exactly the same.

 FRIEKMANNDAR art work can be found in galleries, museum shops and boutiques in Israel and around the world.
